Recently I had some login problems when trying to log in my World of Warcraft account. The error occurred in the loading screen after selecting the character I wanted to play with. The loading screen was stuck on 90% for several minutes until it returned an error saying “Character not found”. After several attempts to fix the problem I found a solution. I was really glad when it worked so I wanted to share the steps I took, with you.
- Restart your computer to get rid of any Blizzard programs running in the background. like Launcher , Agent , Background downloader etc.
- Go to your installation directory “./World of Warcraft/” and delete “/Cache” folder
- Then go to “./World of Warcraft/Data/” directory and delete “/Cache” folder. If this folder doesn’t exist, skip this step.
- Afterwards go to “./World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/your account name/your realm name/your character name/” and delete cache.md5 file.
Notice the underlined path parts in step 4 above. You have to replace them accordingly. For your character name, select the one you want to play with after logging in.
I hope this info comes in handy for you as it did for me.If the problem persists you should contact Blizzard support.
